The Story
Amid the political and economic turmoil of 1724, three men—an Old African Slave without a voice, a Dashing Venetian Sea Captain, and a Grieving Irish Farmer—cross paths in the bustling port city of Cork, Ireland. Each man has lost their beloved wives, and each is trying to raise a young son. They come together in an Old Tavern at the margins of the port and share a path through tremendous difficulties by using their wits, hard labor, and dogged resilience. As the two dads struggle to eke out a living, they also battle deadly Pirates, murderous vagrants , and life as a Catholic during the Protestant Reformation. Their two sons form a brotherhood of their own as they learn together how to fight, how to share, and how to dream. When music reawakens the spirit of the Old Slave, the last barriers to success melt away, and their dreams become true.
